So Thankful

Last night we got home from a week visiting our California family. We had such a good time. We did lots of visiting and LOTS of eating. Andy's mother always makes sure we have the best of everything, and she didn't disappoint us this trip! She is an outstanding cook and we enjoyed every meal she prepared for us.

We were also lucky enough to eat authentic Mexican food while we were there. I try to get Andy to eat Mexican food here, and sometimes he agrees. But he always tells me that Mexican food here is nothing like REAL Mexican food, and I have to say I agree with him. Firebaugh Restaurant was wonderful.

We spent one evening with friends that were in the band with Andy at Dos Palos High School. I won't say how long ago that was, but it was a LONG time. We had Basque food with Marv and Judy Wooten. I really enjoyed meeting them. And as soon as I met them, I felt like I had known them for years. It's nice when people are so friendly and accepting that they feel like lifelong friends after just a few hours.

We had Thanksgiving dinner at Mike and Jan's house. Everything was wonderful, from the decorations to the food. The very best part was having the family all together.

Today is Andy's mother's birthday, so Friday night we went to Doug and Debie's house for birthday dinner. They wanted to celebrate it while we were still there. They outdid themselves with the meal--salmon and steak. Everyone had a great time honoring a great lady. Happy birthday Ann.

We have so very much to be thankful for. There are too many blessings to name, but here are a few.

We are so thankful that we have each other. We both waited a long time for the right person to come into our lives. It is such a wonderful gift that we have each other for the rest of our lives.

We both have wonderful families. Mine is here in Louisiana; his is in California. We're blessed that the people we love are happy and healthy.

We are thankful for our beautiful granddaughters. They bring so much happiness into our lives. God has richly blessed us with these two girls.

We are thankful that we live in a nice home. It meets our needs perfectly.

We are so thankful that God has blessed us with good health, and has provided us with jobs that sustain us financially.

And even though we didn't have my precious Daddy with us this year at Thanksgiving, I am thankful that I spent 57 years with him. I'm also thankful that I know he is in heaven looking down at us as we celebrate this holiday season.
