The Elf on the Shelf

Today the elf came to visit. She came with a book--The Elf on the Shelf. The story is that this elf stays around the house watching the girls and boys to be sure that they're being good. Every night she goes to the North Pole to report to Santa on their behavior. Every morning she's in a different place, waiting and watching for good little girls and boys. She came to our house today.

Emily listened while I read the book, then named her elf "Alicia". And she kept going into the living room where Alicia was sitting on top of the clock. She told Katie all about it when she got here.

We're ALL hoping the Alicia will motivate Emily to be a good girl like we know she can. She's been having a rough few days behaviorwise in school lately, so if Alicia is going to tell Santa, maybe Emily will give her actions a little more thought.

When Katie and Emily left here tonight, Alicia left too. She went on to the North Pole to report that Emily was good today. And I have a sneaking suspicion that she'll be at Emily's house when she gets up in the morning.
