Secret Agent Man

We have had the best weekend. Last night we went to Baton Rouge High School for a concert. The opening act was Duke Bardwell. He played a great mix of blues, country, and rock songs. Part of his claim to fame is that he played in Elivs Presley's band for a couple of years. He was really, really good.

The main attraction at the concert was Johnny Rivers. He was great! I had forgotten how many hits he had over the years, but I think he sang every single one of them last night. He was fun and funny. We really enjoyed the show.

Both Duke and Johnny are graduates of Baton Rouge High. They did the concert as a benefit to raise funds for the radio and television media classes at BRHS. I don't know how much money was raised, but the place was packed. It almost had the feel of a class reunion. In fact, the lady sitting next to me asked if I had gone to Baton Rouge High. When I told her I went to Broadmoor, she said that she was sorry!!

This morning we participated in a 5K race to promote literacy. I'm not sure you can call what we did racing, but we did walk the course. We didn't make record time, but we had fun. It was a beautiful morning to be out walking and we enjoyed it. And I'm proud to say that we didn't come in last--in fact we even passed a couple of people along the way.
