Emily's first picnic

Andy and I took Emily to Fountainbleau State Park for a picnic today. She didn't know what a picnic was, but she sure does now. She talked about it and talked about it for the hour and a half it took us to get there. And I think she loved everything about it, even though she had no idea what to expect.

When we first got there we asked her if she wanted to go to the lake (Lake Ponchartrain) or go to the playground. She was pretty excited about the playground, and not a bit excited about the lake, so we went to the playground first.

I really don't think she had any idea what a lake was because she loved it after she got there. Here is her first step in the water.

After a few minutes she got a little braver.

There was a fountain down near the lake. It was nice because it was fresh water and a good place to wash the sand and salt water off after being in the lake.

We took a walk down the fishing pier. I love this picture of Grandy and Emily.

All the fun wore poor Grandy out.

She's so sassy!

No matter how long I live in Louisiana and how many trees I see with Spanish moss, I always think they are gorgeous.

We had a great day. I can't wait to do it again, but I think next time I'll find a day with temperatures a little cooler than 96 degrees!
