She's getting big!

Last night I took Emily back to Blue Bayou/Dixie Landin'. When we got there I realized that I had forgotten my season pass at home. So after a good bit of delay in getting a duplicate, we were ready to go to the Blue Bayou side. Unfortunately by that time it was 6:05 and the Blue Bayou side closes at 6:00. So we missed out on the water park.

There was no reason for me to stress about it. We decided to ride the rides. When the night ended I was so disappointed that I hadn't brought my camera. The pictures here are not the actual rides we rode. But some are pictures of actual rides at Dixie Landin' and others are similar to the ones there.

We started with the merry-go-round, which used to be Emily's favorite ride. (It's funny, she always picks the same horse. I guess she thinks that one is hers.)

Then we went to the kiddie section and she rode the buckets.

She kept looking at the Ferris Wheel. She told me she wanted to ride it next. Now, Emily is a girl who is afraid of everything, so I tried to reason with her. I told her it was really high and that if we got on, she wouldn't be able to get off until it stopped. I warned her that it was going to stop when we were at the top. But she still insisted that she wanted to go on it. She kept saying "I won't cry". So off we went to the Ferris Wheel. She cackled on it. Not just a little, but the entire time we were on it. She loved it. She kept wanting to stand up when we were at the top. We rode it several times before we moved on to something else.

One of my favorite rides is the train. It's slow and on the ground. You don't have to wear a seat belt or have a bar across your lap. You just sit and enjoy the ride. Emily didn't want to ride the train. I finally convinced her that it would be fun. We rode, and when we got off she was ready for more excitement.

From there we went to the paratrooper ride. She was so excited that she didn't want to wait in line. When we got on, she loved it. She even loved it when it went backwards.

She wanted to ride the tilt-a-whirl. I was very reluctant to ride that one. Not only does it go fast, it spins. She insisted, so we rode it. And rode it. And rode it. She loved it. She was so dizzy when we got off, and I have to say I was too.

She really, really wanted to ride the pirate ship. I was concerned about it because it was one of those rides that makes you put on a seat belt AND has a bar that fits tight across your lap. You know, the kind where they want to be sure you don't fall out. She kept saying she wanted to ride, so we got in the line. I was pleased to find out that she wasn't tall enough for that one.

We ended up at the paratrooper ride again. She rode several more times and I was ready to go. She wasn't, but I was.

I am not looking forward to the time she wants to ride this.

Or this.

She talked and talked about the rides all the way to her house. She was pretty excited about it. Somehow I think we're finished with the kiddie section of the park. She's too big for that kid stuff now.
