Undecorating

In past years when I would decorate for Christmas, I was so excited to take everything out of the boxes and remember when I got this or that. It was always so much fun. Well, this year I didn't do that. Our house was already crowded before Katie and Emily moved in, and with all of Katie's things and the "baby stuff" that came along with Emily (not to mention the things we have accumulated for her in the last year) there just wasn't lots of room for decorating this year. So all the decorating I did was one little Christmas tree. It was a little sad the day I put it up, just knowing that was going to be all the decorating done in the house this year.

Well, today is Christmas. Traditionally, I take down the tree on Christmas afternoon. I always hate that part. Trying to fit the tree back in the box like it was the day I took it out is always a chore. And the ornaments with their sentimental value aren't quite as special on the day I cram them into the boxes they were in when I took them out. So today as I got ready to undecorate all I had to do was put my little Christmas tree in a plastic bag to save it for next year. It was so easy that I'm thinking this may be my new decorating tradition---simple and easy to put out...simple and easy to put away when Christmas is over.

sounds like a great plan, I love to look at the decorations once they are out, but the putting up and taking down is so overwhelming.
