Camping Fun!

This was the weekend of the annual camping trip with the girls. There were five of us and we went to Fairview-Riverside State Park in Madisonville. We had reserved two campsites in the section by the river, but when we got there we found out that both of the campsites were flooded. They offered us the option of taking a tent site and another site with electricity and water. Some of us just wanted to forego the electricity/water site, but the diehard LSU fans felt like we needed to be able to watch the game (what a bad decision THAT turned out to be!). So we ended up with two campsites that were close together. We camped on the tent site and watched the game (UGH!) on the other site.

What started out as a disappointment turned ended up being great. The tent site was far enough away from the other campers that we felt like we had a big part of the place to ourselves. The park had Halloween activities that included a hayride. I really wanted to go on it, but when we got to the place where the Halloween activites were taking place we found out that we needed tickets and no more were available. Even though I really wanted to do that, the weekend was so perfect that I wasn't really disappointed at all.

The tent campsites are very close to a nice playground, so we are hoping to take our grandchildren for a trip soon. We're just watching the weather to see when the best time to do that might be.

It was a wonderful, relaxing weekend. Too bad it is an ANNUAL trip......maybe we'll have to do something about that and go more often.
