What a weekend!

We've had a great weekend! Friday night we went to a wonderful street party called "Jump Up". It was a kickoff for the Ironman Triathlon. It was lots of fun. There were steel pan bands, other bands, and the mocko jumbies! Lots of people were there but it was a very nice crowd.

Yesterday we spent the day in downtown Christiansted. I was curious about riding the bus, but I wanted to be sure it was a safe situation. So yesterday Andy rode the bus with me. It was a beautiful day downtown. We didn't go to any of the attractions, but had a nice day just people-watching and looking out at the harbor.

Today was the Ironman Triathlon. We got there at 5:30 this morning and the athletes were already gathering. The race started at 6:30 and we stayed until the first few finishers crossed the finish line. It took over four hours for the first contestant to cross the finish line. There was also a sprint variation of the race where each event, the swim, the bike ride, and the run, were shorter distances. It was all very interesting and we really learned lots about it and had lots of fun.
